This iconic John Galliano for Dior news print silk chiffon runway dress from the FW 2000 collection  with an asymmetrical ruffled flounce hemline.

This design was the thirtieth look on the runway collection, modeled by Lisa Ratcliff. Quintessential Galliano, a masterful 30s bias cut evening dress with a contemporary graphic newsprint text throughout. The dress is strapless with a gathered organza fabric at the bust. The bodice has cotton tulle appliqued asymmetrically on the printed taffeta cummerbund that contours the waist of the bodice. The asymmetrical ruffled flounce is cut high on the left side. The dress is fully lined with white chiffon with multi-layers at the flounce to build volume. This seasonal print for Dior was a commercial success with Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie Bradshaw wearing a similar "Dior Gazette" printed bias-cut cocktail dress in Sex and the City (Season 3, Episode 17) when she has lunch with Big's wife Natashia, who confronts Carrie about her affair with her husband. Since the design's appearance on the show, it has entered the pop zeitgeist as a coveted fashion must-have..
